The project isfinanced by the Austrian Development Cooperation and implemented by the Professional Capacity Building Institute – IFCP.
Moldova disposes of better opportunities for skills development and upgrade in WSS.
Two VET institutions have strengthened their capacities in providing demand-driven initial and further training in occupations relevant for WSS.
PROJECT ACTIVITIES AND EXPECTED RESULTS
Over the first year of implementation, it is envisaged to conduct labour market analysis and develop occupational profiles for 2 occupations (plumber and electrician) and 3 related specializations (intervention and reconstruction works; maintenance of sanitary ware such as valves, water filters, fittings, shutoff gates; repair works of WSS electrical equipment such as pumps, starters, engines, power distribution points etc.); update the existing curricula for the 2 occupations and develop new training modules for the 3 specializations following the requirements of the labour market; generate related training materials and procure equipment necessary for implementation of the new curricula. Furthermore, the project team aims to produce a methodological guide on how to develop competence-based curriculum and make it available for the public on the project webpage. As a result of these activities, curricula for 2 WSS related occupations will be updated, endorsed and ready for systematic implementation in all relevant VET institutions.
The project also foresees to determine the training needs of the teachers/instructors from the pilot VET institutions and design an overall training plan for them. This will serve as basis for a complex teacher training program, focusing on pedagogical and practical issues, followed by capacity building of 4 master trainers, so that towards the end of the project they could provide further peer coaching/training both within their school and in other VET institutions training for WSS relevant occupations.
During the second year of the project, it is planned to implement 1 long-term training course and up to 2 short-term courses for each of the 2 selected occupations based on the newly developed curricula. The project team will monitor training implementation and coach VET teachers/instructors from the pilot schools during the process; develop assessment infrastructure, organize and follow up internships; conduct assessment of graduates and follow up their labour market integration; disseminate project results in public events and on the project webpage.
